Obituary of Cosmo Pinelli

Cosmo Pinelli, age 90, of Venice Florida, passed away November 10, 2020 at his home with his loving daughter at his side. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dominic and Rose Pinelli, his wife Faye, and his son, David and infant son, Daniel. Cosmo is survived by two daughters, Sandy Rill and Dianna Romano, both of Ashtabula, Ohio, nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Cosmo was born and raised in Ashtabula, Ohio, and was the youngest of eight children. While in High School, Cosmo played first string clarinet for four years in the band. After high school, Cosmo joined the army and was sent to Korea; he was there between 1950 - 1953. Once back in the United States, Cosmo went to barber school and owned a successful barber shop on Main Avenue. When it came to retire, Cosmo and Faye moved down to Venice, Florida along with several family members and friends. The first 10 years of retirement, Cosmo worked as a realtor -- something his sister, Millie, recruited him to do with her. Even in his golden years, Cosmo was known as an excellent barber and gave haircuts to friends, relatives and neighbors. When Cosmo wasn't cutting hair, he enjoyed swimming at the beach, Opera Music, and spending time with his family. Cosmo's children have fond memories of school friends always being welcome at the Pinelli home to play pool downstairs. During high school, David was on the football team. The coach insisted that all players were well-groomed, so many of David's teammates went to Cosmo's barber shop. As a grandfather, Cosmo always had a big smile and hug for the grandkids and great-grandkids. Memories of haircuts, tales of the beach, Cosmo's love of classical music and passion for history are just a few things that he leaves behind with them.
