Arlene Demerise Boal Arlene Demerise Boal, 65, of Ashtabula, joined our Lord above on Tuesday January 5, 2021. Arlene had been in Ashtabula County Medical Center and Grace Acute Care Hospital in Bedford for the past several weeks. Arlene was born on February 10, 1955 in Ashtabula, Ohio, the daughter of Raymond and Leota (Moore) Theriault. Arlene graduated in 1973 from Ashtabula High School and Ashtabula County Joint Vocational School, where she took data processing courses. Arlene married Perry E. Boal on September 29, 1973 and they shared 47 wonderful years together. Perry and Arlene were blessed with a daughter, Stephanie Sarah, on October 14, 1977. Arlene worked for a short time at D & K store before being employed by Ashtabula Area City Schools. She worked several positions from cafeteria server, switchboard operator, and then her favorite being a school secretary. Arlene loved all the children in her schools. She worked at Windermere, Plymouth and McKinsey elementary schools until she retired June 15, 2011, after 25 years. Arlene's hobbies were scrapbooking, genealogy, and cross stitch. When she was able to Arlene and her husband loved to travel. She spent a night or two in at least 30 states! Arlene was survived by her husband Perry, daughter Stephanie Boal, sister Ruth (Clarence) Ashley of New Lyme, sisters in law Linda (Brad) Shellito of Ostrander, OH and Jane (Jeff) McCracken of Morgantown, WV, nieces Samantha (Travis) Tauche, and Rebecca (Jeff) Hayes of Ashtabula, Julie (Chris) Bates of Delaware, OH and nephews Brad Hornbeck of Austinburg, Nick Shellito of Delaware, OH, and Max (Amy) McCracken of Morgantown, WV, along with several great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday January 10, 2020 at First Covenant Church 3300 Carpenter Road Ashtabula, with Rev. Bruce Wyand presiding. Friends will be welcomed to pay their respects from 1PM until time of service at 2PM. Funeral services will be livestreamed via Ducro Funeral Service Facebook page. Social distancing will be observed and asks will be required and provided if needed. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to The Kidney Foundation of Ohio, 2831 Prospect Ave., Cleveland, Ohio, 44115, and the First Covenant Church Benevolent Fund. The Boal Family would like to thank the staff at Davita Dialysis of Ashtabula as well as the Ashtabula Wound Center for their kind care over the last several years.
