Robert A. Wheland Jr., 62, died unexpectedly on January 7, 2021 in his Jefferson Ohio home. Robert was born August 22, 1958 in Cleveland Ohio to Robert Sr and Carole (Murphy) Wheland. He was a veteran of the Marine Corps. Robert retired from A. Raymond Tinnerman in Brunswick Oh in 2013. Following his retirement, he obtained his bachelor’s degree in theology and began ministering to nursing homes, hospitals, jails and local children in his neighborhood. He was the Associate Director of his local RU recovery program. He celebrated 15 years sobriety himself. Robert was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Valley City until he moved to Jefferson Ohio where he then became a member of Lighthouse Baptist church in Ashtabula. Robert loved the lord and would tell anyone and everyone about salvation. Robert is survived by his children Robert Wheland of Tulsa, Jessica Miller of Jefferson, and Amber Ortega of Lodi. Grandchildren Crystal, Eden, Tatum, Maria, Mackenzie, Katelyn and Brayden. Brother Mark (Teresa) Wheland, sisters Patricia Veverka, Lynda Frashuer, and Bobbie Griffin. Robert has many cousins and nieces and nephews that he was close with. Robert is proceded in death by his parents Robert and Carole Wheland and his grandson Gabriel. Cremation service is being done by Ducro Funeral home in Ashtabula. Memorial Service will be held January 11, 2021, 11 am at First Baptist Church of Valley City.
