Obituary of Garland Fred Steele

Garland F. Steele ASHTABULA- Garland Fred Steele, 89 passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 25, 2021 at his home with family by his side. Garland was born on August 19, 1931 in New Lyme, the son of Gabriel Stanley and Florence L. (Scott) Steele. On November 5, 1967 he married Ella Marie (Morgan) Perry and she preceded him in death on November 3, 2015 after forty eight years of marriage. Their marriage was one of love and mutual respect. Garland was a Mason belonging to Local #16. He was in demand as his work was of the highest quality. He passed that work ethic to his children and grandchildren. Garland belonged to the Eagles Clubs of both Ashtabula and Geneva. He enjoyed spending time outdoors; Garland liked to go deer hunting, not shoot, but to be with his friends and enjoy their time together. He listened to country and blue grass music, grew a large garden which he shared with friends and family, and traveling to Florida. Garland and his dog Pepper had an evening ritual that would happen every night without fail. He enjoyed the times spent with his family; they were his pride and joy. He was proud of all of their accomplishments. He was the rock and protector of his family. Garland is survived by his children, Marlene ( Scott) Breedlove, Gabriel (Mary) Steele both of Ashtabula, Gary (Lisa) Steele, of Florida; step-children whom he considered his own, Chris Perry of Mississippi, Curtis (Stephany) Perry of Ashtabula, loving grandchildren, great grandchildren, great- greatgrandchildren. Garland was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ella, his son David Steele, grandson, Garrison Steele, granddaughter, Brittany Perry and his parents. Graveside Services at Oakdale Cemetery of Jefferson will be held at 11AM on Saturday May 8, 2021.
