Please share a memory of Nick to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Nick P. Caruso, Sr., 92, passed away on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 after a brief illness at the Ashtabula County Medical Center. He was born in Ashtabula on November 11, 1928 or some years it was November 12, so he could tell you that you missed his birthday! Nick graduated from Ashtabula High School Class of 1946, along with the love of his life and high school sweetheart, Veronica J. Surbella. They would marry on June 12, 1948 and cherished their 70 years of marriage. Nick retired from Reliance Electric in 1983. Never a man to rest, he continued to farm his 75 acres, and had over 100 heads of sheep on the farm, along with many other animals. He loved music, playing the trumpet, singing in barbershop quartets and sang in the Mother of Sorrow's Men's Choir. Nick also sang at many weddings and funerals over the years. In addition, he was an avid bowler, bowling several 300 games and traveling with his family to many tournaments all over the United States. Along with his wife Veronica they loved to travel on their motorcycle. Nick was the go-to man in the family and neighbors, a "jack of all trades," he could do or fix anything. Along with staying busy, Nick always had a smile on his face and was always in a jovial spirit, telling jokes and shooting the breeze. His family will cherish the many happy memories. He was a member of Our Lady of Peace Parrish, the Sheffield Grange and the Ohio Farm Bureau. Nick is survived by children, Beverly Eyajan, Deborah (David) Mead, Nick (Chris) Caruso, Jr., Jennifer Cook, Paulette Caruso Schossler, and Julia (Larry) Solden; loving grandchildren, Lindsey, Lydia, Mathew, Julia, Jennifer, Jesse, Jr., Amy, Amanda, David, Jr., Nick, III, and Sheila; his most precious great-grandchildren; sisters, Lillian Evans and Darlene Stenbeck; and many loving nieces and nephews.
