Pastor Samuel Richardson ASHTABULA – Pastor Samuel Richardson was called home to be with his loving Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Tuesday, June 29, 2021. The son of the late Johnnie and Roberta (Hall) Richardson, Samuel was born on December 18, 1933, in Wynn, Arkansas. He served as the Pastor at Central Missionary Baptist Church in Jefferson, Ohio for several years. He truly enjoyed serving the Lord and had a special place in his heart for his congregation. Samuel was a hardworking man who mentored and instilled work ethics in many throughout the years. During his life, he was a member of the Masonic Order; served as an auxiliary police officer for Ashtabula and was employed with Bow Socket for many years. Samuel was also the owner of Richardson’s Excavating, Richardson’s General Contractors and M&R Construction. He employed and trained many people for thirty plus years prior to his retirement. In his leisure time, Samuel could be found overseeing the work of his grandsons who continue to carry on the family business legacy. He enjoyed spending quality time with family, especially his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He donated and spent much of his time at G.O. Ministries and other community organizations. Samuel is survived by his children, Jackie (Richard) Jackson of Atlanta, Georgia, Samuel (Toni) Richardson, Jr. of Denver, Colorado, Michael Richardson of Ashtabula, Ohio, Kimberly Chatman (Willie) of Youngstown, Ohio, Regina Richardson (Santo) of Ashtabula, Ohio, Martina Richardson of Painesville, Ohio, George Tracey Dismuke of Cleveland, Ohio and Chyvon (Lacebian) Crockett of Ashtabula, Ohio; many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings, Johnnie (Mattie) Richardson, Jr., Willie Calvin Richardson, Marlvell Richardson, Annie Richardson, Jurice Richardson, Polly Richardson, and Martha Richardson; brothers-in-law, Silas W. Walker, Arthur (Doris) Thompson and Griffin Thompson; sisters-in-law, Jurlean House and Martha (Marcus) Roberts; his bonus sister, Willietta Bunch-Marbury; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Samuel was preceded in death by his parents, first wife and mother of his children, Willie Ann Richardson, second wife Mary Helen Richardson; siblings, Berta Mae Lovett, Minnie Jean Richardson, Kathella McRae and Mary “Mae” Williams; and son-in-law, James Chatman, Sr. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, July 8, 2021, at Hiawatha Church of God in Christ, 3417 Hiawatha Avenue, Ashtabula, Ohio. Interment at Edgewood Cemetery, State Road, Ashtabula, Ohio. Calling Hours will be held on Wednesday, July 7, 2021, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Ducro Funeral Home, 4524 Elm Avenue, Ashtabula, Ohio. Memorial contributions in Samuel’s name may be made to Central Missionary Baptist Church; in care of his daughter, Regina Richardson 5700 Nathan Avenue #314 Ashtabula, Ohio 44004.
