Obituary of Marcus L. "Scony" Pierson

Marcus L. Pierson (Scony), age 65, left this earthly realm Saturday, July 3, 2021 at his residence.
Scony was born March 19, 1956 in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of Lawrence and Dorothy Pierson; and has been a resident of Ohio since birth.
He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp, and had received an honorable discharge. After retiring from the railroad, Scony was a high school football coach at Ashtabula and Lakeside High School. There, he was a mentor to many during the years of coaching football. In addition, Scony was most famously know as one half of the McCoy in the Morning radio show on 98.3 The Bull. Affectionately known to many as “The Mayor of Ashtabula, King Indubiously and Scony Don Coreleone”, Scony was loved and will be missed by many.
Scony leaves to carry on his legacy his wife Cheri Pierson, children Luciana Phifer (Anthony), Yalonda Singleton (Karl), Lakia Rollins (Delonta), Marcus Jr. (Mariah), Maranda Davis (Branden), Chemar Pierson, Mahlea Pierson, Brayden Pierson, RahShaad Winford (Shaqia), his sister Darlene Pierson, niece Jasmine Shah (Gianne), 12 grandchildren and a host of family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother (Lawrence Pierson, Jr.) and two children.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 9, 2021, at 11AM at Zaback-Williams-Ducro Funeral, 500 W. Prospect Road Ashtabula with Elder Sharon Sing officiating. Military Honors will be presented at 11AM by the American Legion Dewey Howlett Post 103.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, July 8, 2021, from 5PM to 8PM at Zaback-Williams-Ducro Funeral, 500 W. Prospect Road Ashtabula.
Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of Zaback-William-Ducro Funeral Home.
