Obituary of Jennifer A (nee Lind) Lautanen

Jennifer A. (nee Lind) Lautanen, 74, of Ashtabula passed away Tuesday, July 13, 2021, at the Ashtabula County Medical Center. She was born November 9, 1946, in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, the daughter of the late James R. and E. Dorothy (Hope) Lind. Jennifer was a 1964 graduate of Ashtabula High School, and received her bachelor's degree in Education from Otterbein College in 1968. Jennifer was a health and physical education teacher for the Ashtabula Area City Schools, spending most of her time at Harbor High School and Columbus Jr. High. She coached volleyball and basketball, and was an advisor for the Girls' Athletic Association. She was also an officer and member of the Ashtabula Area Teachers Association. Jennifer was also an Independent Beauty Consultant for Mary Kay for many years. Following her retirement from teaching in 2002, Jennifer also worked for Dr. Donald Farley, and later returned to the schools as a paraprofessional from 2015-2020. Jennifer was a member of BPOE Elks Lodge #208 and an auxiliary member of American Legion Post 103. She enjoyed traveling, home renovations, and spending time with friends and family. Her favorite activity was watching her grandchildren's sporting events, where she could always be found keeping score. She is survived by her daughter, Stephanie (Scott) Anservitz; grandchildren, Jonah, Benjamin, and Camryn; brother, Thomas Lind; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Jennifer was preceded in death by her brothers, David and James Lind; sister, Linda Howe; and her parents. A celebration of Jennifer's life will be held on Friday, July 16, 2021, at 7PM at Andrus Banquet Center, 2259 West Ave., Ashtabula. Friends may call from 5PM until the time of service at 7PM.
