Obituary of Sheila Ann Woodard

Pierpont- Sheila Ann (nee Quirke) Woodard, 68, of Pierpont, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday, July 31, 2021, at the Ashtabula County Medical Center. She was born November 30, 1952, in Ashtabula the daughter of the late Theodore and Blennie (Terrell) Quirke. She graduated from Ashtabula High School/VoEd Class of 1971 and remained a lifelong area resident. Sheila married the love of her life Norman Woodard on March 17, 1973. Sheila was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and community volunteer. She had a unique sense of humor, that sometimes couldn’t be shared because it was inappropriate. She loved to make people laugh. Over the years Sheila donated much of her time to support the Pierpont community, especially with events for the Boy Scouts, Girls Scouts and the Pierpont Volunteer Fire Department. Sheila was a volunteer dispatcher for Pierpont Volunteer Fire Department for many years. She also served as the cemetery caretaker which she took much pride in. Over the years she worked as a secretary for various places including the Ashtabula Vocational School and then retired as a librarian at Pierpont Elementary School upon its closing. Sheila didn’t like to travel far from home, she enjoyed her homestead and the peace that the country life and nature provided her. She was an amazing cook and enjoyed watching her garden grow and feeding the birds. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family. She is survived by her husband Norman whom she was married to for 48 years; children, Tia (Ben Rausch) Woodard, Teddy (Donna) Woodard, Tim (Aditi) Woodard, and Mitch Spronz; siblings, Ted (Geri) Quirke and Sherry (Mel) Ferguson; grandchildren, River and Rain Woodard, and Nora and Vivian Spronz; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends. Sheila was preceded in death by her brother PJ Quirke, and her parents. A Celebration of Life and sharing of stories will be held on Wednesday, August 4, 2021, at the Childs-Williams-Ducro Funeral Home 1071 State Route 7, Pierpont. Friends may call on Wednesday from 5PM until the time of service at 7PM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Pierpont Volunteer Fire Department, 6006 Marcy Rd, Pierpont, OH 44082.
