Obituary of Thomas Eric Kivela

Thomas E. Kivela ASHTABULA- Thomas Eric Kivela, 69, passed away on Saturday, September 25,2021 while a resident of Saybrook Landing. Tom is the son of John and Antoinette (Dispenza) Kivela, he was born on August 26, 1952, in Ashtabula and made friends in all of his travels to MD, DE, NY and back to Ohio. Tom was a dedicated employee of Union Camp Corporation and would tell you everything you ever wanted to know about corrugated paper. Whatever the question boxes was the answer! Tom was a fan of the Cleveland Indians and was not too fond of the new name going into effect next year. He enjoyed Lake Shore Park and being around the water. He would sit for hours and enjoy the peacefulness of the water. Tom loved his family, loudly and with enthusiasm. He loved sending surprise pizza money often to his daughters, grandkids and great granddaughter. They were his first thoughts of the day and his last thoughts of the evening. His daughters, Tracy, Christie and Bethany meant the world to him. When his grandchildren came along, he discovered a new type of love as a grandpa, and great grandpa a role he took on with great joy! Tom was a “Dog Dad” to many companions and was reunited with many wagging tails and face kisses in heaven. Tom is survived by his daughters, Tracy Norman, Christie (Tom) Partridge and Bethany (Dan) Joyave; grandchildren, Brittany Norman, Kayla (Cameron Rice) Norman, Melanie Partridge, and Aaron Partridge; great granddaughter Kelsey Rice; brother, John (Barb) Kivela; nephews Dean (Melissa) Kivela, Ryan (Angela)Kivela; great nephew, Liam Thomas, Niece, Anna Kivela; and many beloved cousins and extended family. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, John and Antoinette Kivela. In lieu of flowers, donations in Tom’s name may be made to the Hospice of the Western Reserve, 1166 Lake Avenue, Ashtabula, Ohio or Saybrook Landing Activity Fund, 2300 Center Road, Ashtabula, Ohio, 44004. Graveside Services will be held on Tuesday, October 12, 2021, at 11AM at Edgewood Cemetery State Road, Ashtabula, Ohio, 44004.
