Rose M. Wereb
JEFFERSON - Rose Mary Powers Wereb, passed away Thursday, October 7, 2021, at the age of 89 years old while a resident of Jefferson Healthcare.
Born on May 23, 1932, to Edward Lawrence and Emilie Devereux Powers, in Charleston, S.C., Rose Mary always loved to be outdoors, either gardening in the sunshine, or vacationing in Charleston to spend time along the ocean shore.
After Rose Mary graduated from Virginia Medical University, she married John Andrew Wereb, Jr., on September 17, 1955 and raised their five children while working as a Licensed Physical Therapist until her retirement at 72 years old. After retirement, she made use of her second degree from Notre Dame College by working part-time as a bookkeeper for several small businesses.
Rose Mary ‘s love for nature gave her much pleasure being outside tending her yard and gardens; from vegetables to flowers, no plant was overlooked. She also hung hummingbird feeders and flowering plants to better attract birds and butterflies to her yard where she would enjoy watching them from her house windows.
Never one to remain idle, if Rose Mary wasn’t working or reading, she would busy herself crafting personal gifts for friends and family, through needlework, knitting, and crocheting. When her attention turned back to sewing, Rose Mary developed a love for quilting and fashioned many personal award-winning quilts for family and friends that are now precious treasures and symbols of her love.
Rose Mary is survived by her husband, John Wereb; their children, Terry Wereb, James Wereb, Charlotte Catlett (David), Carolyn Daro (Nick), and Lawrence Wereb; grandchildren, Michael Bolton (Christine), Christine Rene` Kehoe, Katherine Raymond, Devin Daro, Amanda Daro, Emilie Catlett, Mary Lucille Schlecht (Jacob), and Victoria Catlett; great grandchildren, Hunter Bolton, Jonathan Taylor "J.T." Bolton, Madella Kehoe and Edward Raymond; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Rose Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, Lawrence Powers, Charlotte Pegram, Jack Powers, Lois Anderson and Mercedes Powers, her great granddaughter Charis Raymond, and her son-in-law Sean Kehoe.
