Lee Burks
ASHTABULA- Lee Burks, 96 joined his beloved wife Peg, Thursday, October 14, 2021.
The son of Edward Parke and Dorothy L. (Edmonds) Burks, Farrel Lemoine (Lee) was born on April 7, 1925, in Rockville, Indiana.
During WW II, Lee served on the USS Oglala in the Pacific Theatre from 1943 until his honorable discharge in 1946.
Upon his return to Indiana from the Navy, Lee and Peg Brower were married on July 7, 1946, and had celebrated sixty-seven years of marriage prior to her death on July 12, 2013.
Lee retired from RMI after more than thirty years of dedicated service.
Into his nineties Lee took great pride in maintaining his home and property including the flowers Peg had loved so much. Lee enjoyed steam trains and going to airshows.
Appreciating a wide variety of music, Lee spent many hours listening with Marla and Kelsey in the last few years of his life.
Lee is survived by his four children, Steve (Ginny) Burks of Royal Oak, MI., Cyndy Burks of Mesa, AZ, and Marla Burks and Kelsey Burks, both of Ashtabula; five grandchildren, Rob, Craig, and Matt Burks, Scott (Marcia) Pal, and Julie (Brian) Mowka; five great-grandchildren, Kyra Burks, Maelynn Burks, Quenten and Colten Pal, and Kyle Mowka; sisters-in-law, Darlean Burks and Virginia Overpeck both of Rockville, IN.; many loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret “Peg” Burks, his parents and siblings, Harold Burks, Alma Northcutt, Ruth Poole, Sam Burks, Eileen Mitchell and Bill Burks.
Funeral Services will be held at 1PM on Wednesday, October 20, 2021, at the Zaback-Williams-Ducro Funeral Home,500 West Prospect Road, Ashtabula Ohio. Donna Caputo, Chaplain from the Hospice of the Western Reserve to officiate. Burial at Greenlawn Memory Gardens, North Kingsville, Ohio.
Visitation will be held from 11AM until time of service at 1PM at the funeral home; Wednesday, October 20, 2021.
If desired, contributions in Lee’s name may be made to the Hospice of the Western Reserve, 1166 Lake Avenue, Ashtabula, Ohio 44004.
Lee’s family would like to thank the staff from the Hospice of the Western Reserve for the loving care shown to him and to his family.
