Obituary of Catherine Lawson

Catherine Lawson, 72, of Ashtabula passed away, Monday, November 15, 2021, at Lake Pointe Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Conneaut. She was born July 18, 1949, in Ashtabula the daughter of the late Louis and Catherine (O'Brien) Lawson. Catherine graduated from St. John's High School and went on to earn her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Ursuline College Class of 1971. Cathy taught at Assumption Elementary, St. John High School and most recently at Lakeside High School. Cathy was a member of the Christ Church prayer shawl ministry team. She was active at the Ashtabula Arts Center both performing and directing over many years. Cathy enjoyed making homemade cards for friends and family. She had a love for theater and enjoyed going to shows and movies with her friends. Some of her favorite times were her morning get togethers with her "coffee girls". She also enjoyed playing bridge and going to casinos. She is preceded in death by her parents; an infant brother Louis; Aunt Phyllis O'Brien; and cousin, Griffin O'Brien. She is survived by her cousins: Tom (Ellen) O'Brien and their child, Baxter; Mike O'Brien; Tim (Margaret) O'Brien; Kim (David) Carey and their children, John, Megan, and Mollie; and Elizabeth "Betsy" (Richard) Dumperth. Cathy also leaves behind many close friends. A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, November 20, 2021, at 10AM at Our Lady of Peace, Mother of Sorrows Parrish, 1464 W 6th St, Ashtabula, OH 44004. Inurnment will follow at St, Joseph Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Friday, November 19, 2021, from 5-7PM at the Ducro Funeral Home, 4524 Elm Ave., Ashtabula, Ohio.
