Obituary of Adela Cortes

Adela Cortes, 70, passed away on Nov. 24, 2021, at UH Conneaut. Born Nov. 18, 1951, in Naguabo, Puerto Rico, she was a daughter of the late Julio Mattos-DeJesus and Clara Davila-Martinez. She lived a life devoted to God making him the center and acknowledging him in all her ways. Preached not only with words but through her lifestyle touched many lives with her hospitable, jovial and selfless spirit. She enjoyed cooking, especially when it came to family dinners to spend time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved singing and composed many songs with their musical arrangements as she accompanied herself with the little she knew on her acoustic guitar. She was strong, tenacious and not easily moved from her biblical principles, loved and respected by many. Left to cherish her memories are her children Vivían, Amos, and Ivan Cortes, Sharaim Hernandez (Jayson Hernandez) and Itamar Soto (Alex Soto); eight sisters and two brothers; sixteen grandchildren as well as four great grandchildren. You will never be forgotten and carried in our hearts and minds, Always! She was preceded in death by her husband Servando Cortes and her parents Julio Mattos-DeJesus and Clara Davila-Martinez. Visitation will be held from 10 AM until 12 PM on Tuesday November 30, 2021 at the Ducro Funeral Services 4524 Elm Ave. Ashtabula, Ohio immediately followed by the funeral service at 12 PM with Rev. Jayson Hernandez officiating. Burial will take place at Ridgeview Cemetery, Ashtabula. Due to the increase in COVID recently, during the services, social distancing will be practiced and masks are recommended to be worn. Ducro Family Services and Crematory, 4524 Elm Ave, Ashtabula Ohio is handling arrangements.
