Ashtabula- Debra R. Hommes “Fockler”, 60, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 2, 2021, at Saybrook Landing.
Debra was born on April 8, 1961, in Ashtabula, Ohio the daughter of George D. and Mary Elizabeth (Gary) Hommes. She was the first graduate from Grace Christian Academy, Class of 1979.
Debra was employed with Olsen’s Bakery, Hills, Dillard’s and most recently retired from Dollar General in Geneva. She was a member of the Bible Baptist Church. Debra enjoyed helping her daughter, Jennifer as a “homeroom mom,” at ABC Child care and Learning Center. Debra loved to play the piano and enjoyed listening to southern gospel music, especially Ernie Haase. She loved dogs, especially her fur-grandchildren, Lucy and Olive.
She will be dearly missed by her parents, George and Mary Hommes children, Jennifer and Robert Fockler; siblings, Pam McNutt, James (Cheryl) Hommes, Brenda (Jeff) Michalke and Brian (Sherri) Hommes.
Debra was preceded in death by her grandparents, Forrest and Elizabeth Gary and Lewis and Elizabeth Hommes; and a brother-in-law, Perry McNutt.
The family will gather in the reception room at Zaback-Williams-Ducro Funeral Home, 500 W. Prospect Rd., Ashtabula (please use double doors in back of building) on Thursday, December 9, 2021, from 4:00PM-6:00PM.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to the family.
