Norman D. Stokes JEFFERSON- Norman David Stokes, 83 passed away December 7, 2021, surrounded in love with his wife Candice. The son of Wallace E. and Grace (Hammond) Stokes, Norm was born on August 19, 1938, in Ashtabula. He was a proud graduate of Harbor High School. Norm was a veteran of the United States Army serving in Germany during the Berlin Crisis. Norm and his wife Candy were married for forty-one years and were parents of three children. The family had many adventures together. He retired form Reliance Electric of thirty years of dedicated service. He was the owner of Can-Do-It Farms, of Jefferson, Ohio where he and Candy taught many young people how to care for and ride horses. He remained close to his students and enjoyed keeping up with their activities. Norm was an avid race car fan and SCCA elite driver. Norm is survived by his beloved wife, Candy; children, Jolene Fielding of Fort Drum, NY, Rachelle Hrusovsky of Chesterland; grandchildren, Bennie, McKinley, Brogan. Beatrice, Joshua, Justine, and Thomas; great granddaughter, Oakley Stagl; siblings, Mark Fickenscher, Mike Fickenscher and LeeAnn Metz; beloved former son-in-law Jeff Stagl; loving nieces and nephews; countless friends from the “farm.” Norm was preceded in death by his son; Norman W. Stokes; mother, Grace Fickenscher; his father, Wally E. Stokes who died when Norm was a young child; brother, Marty Fickenscher; beloved son-in-law, Lt. Colonel Benjamin Fielding. Norm’s last words to all of hundreds of students and horse friends are, “I’m goin’home.” Per his request no services are being held .
