Obituary of Ronald E. Orahood

ANDOVER- Ronald E. Orahood, 83 passed away Monday, December 13, 2021.
The son of Charles and Doris (Lippencott) Orahood, Ron was born on April 21, 1938, in Raymond, Ohio. As a young child, Ron and his family moved to Andover.
A graduate of Andover High School Class of 1957, Ron remained close to his classmates after graduation.
Ron was a veteran of the United States Army being honorably discharged, he returned to Andover to begin work with GE Andover Bulb Plant, Ron was employed for twenty-five years. Upon the plants closing, he began working for Parker Hannifin. Ron was forced into retirement when Parker Hannifin closed; however, Ron never retired. He could always find something to keep him busy, he enjoyed helping others with small jobs. Ron passed his work ethic to his children and grandchildren.
Ron and his wife, Mary Jo were among the founding families of the Andover Christian Church.
On April 21, 1960, Ron married his high school sweetheart, Mary Jo Johnson, they were married fifty-three years before her passing on June 23, 2013.
Ron enjoyed sports and was a fan of the Cleveland Indians as well as other Cleveland teams. His family meant so much to him, he loved being in their presence. The laughter, good food, and friendly teasing between them all brought a smile to his face. Ron encouraged his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He supported them in their successes and shared with them in their disappointments. Ron was proud of the successful people they have become.
Ron is survived by his sons, Brian (Billie) Orahood of Salem, Virginia and Scott (Sonia) Orahood of Andover; grandchildren, Mallory (Jeremy) Belew, Meredith (Ben) Zureuck, Tesla Rodriguez, Cassandra (Stewart) Starr, Ethan (Jenna) Rodriguez, and Isaac Orahood. Great Grandchild, Hatton Belew; loving nieces and nephews.
Ron was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Jo Orahood; his son Todd E. Orahood and great granddaughter, Adelyn Grace Belew.
Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, December 18, 2021, at 11:00 AM at the Childs- Williams- Ducro Funeral Home, 1071 State Route 7 North, Pierpont, Ohio. Burial at Maple Grove Cemetery, Orchard Street, Andover, Ohio.
Visitation will be on Friday, December 17, 2021, from 5-7PM at the Childs-Williams-Ducro Funeral Home, 1071 State Route 7 North, Pierpont, Ohio.
In Lieu of Flowers, Memorial contributions can be made to The Anchor of Hope Resource Center 6082 Fenkell Road, Andover, Ohio 44003.
