Obituary of Anastasia "Nancy" Pykus

Anastasia “Nancy” Pykus, 96, of Jefferson, passed away on Sunday, December 12, 2021, (her husband’s birthday), at Jefferson Healthcare Center. Nancy was born March 18, 1925, in Khashchiv, Ukraine and as a young teenager, she moved to Germany to find work. There, she met her husband, Nicolaus Pykus and on November 24, 1946, they became husband and wife. In 1949 on Christmas Eve, Nicolaus and Nancy immigrated to the United States where they started their new life together. Before retiring, Nancy took pride in her management position at the former Kwikfill in Saybrook. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Left to cherish her memories are her three children; William Pykus of Washington, Mary Ann (Stan) Kohut of Ashtabula and Nicolaus (Jennifer) Pykus of Cuyahoga Falls; four grandchildren, William (Jean) Pykus, Cassandra (Jason) Trombley, Marissa Pykus, and Zachary (Erika) Longo; and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Nicolaus Pykus, in 2002 and her daughter-in-law, Arlene Welk, in 2021. Nancy will be laid to rest next to her husband at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Ashtabula.
