Please share a memory of Carl to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
ASHTABULA – Carl "Skip" Corbissero, 58, passed away Thursday, December 16, 2021 after a short battle with COVID-19.
He was born March 4, 1963 in Ashtabula, the son of Carmen "Lefty" and Celeste (Rinto) Corbissero and had been a lifelong Ashtabula resident.
A 1982 graduate of Harbor High School, he joined the United States Marine Corps and served his country before being honorably discharged in 1989.
Carl had worked for 13 years as an Administrative Assistant and Housing Inspector for the City of Ashtabula Planning and Community Development Department. Strong in his faith, he attended Eagleville Bible Church. He always put God, his family, and his pets before anything else.
An avid HAMM radio operator, he enjoyed fishing, canoeing, listening to all kinds of music, and picking winners every weekend during football season. He was always a kid at heart and will forever be remembered as caring more for others than himself. As a true Italian, he never let anyone go hungry, including total strangers. Mechanically inclined, he never hesitated to help fix things for family and friends. He always put others first.
His survivors include his wife, Katrina Bousquet Corbissero; one son, Alec Corbissero; his step-son, Christopher (Derek Nuno) Bousquet; his mother, Celeste Corbissero; two sisters, Valerie (Robert) Silleck and Vanessa Petrosky; numerous nieces and nephews; his mother-in-law, Judi Bozman; and his German Shepherd, Princess Sadie Mae.
He was preceded in death by his nephew, LCpl. Kevin Cornelius; his longtime K-9 companion Trooper; and his father, Carmen "Lefty" Corbissero.
Calling hours will be held Monday, December 27, 2021 from 10AM-11:30AM with a service to be held at 11:30 beginning with the Marine Corps League and Military Honors at the ZABACK-WILLIAMS-DUCRO FUNERAL HOME, 500 West Prospect Road, Ashtabula. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
