Rev. Neroy Carter KINGSVILLE- Rev. Neroy Carter, 73, was called to be with Jesus on Wednesday, December 22, 2021. The son of Mack R. and Ida M. (Edwards) Carter, Neroy was born on March 5, 1948 in Myrtle Beach, SC, and served in the United States Air Force from 1968 until his honorable discharge in 1972. Neroy and Nadena Stegall were united in marriage on August 22, 1975. Pastor of New Hope Pentecostal Church for twenty-two years, he served as Executive Director of Ridgeview Terrace and Terra Quest since its inception. There are plans for a different facility, Resolution Family Apartments, that includes housing and amenities for younger families. A member of Rotary International, Ashtabula Chapter, he was very active as a member. Neroy was involved in many mission trips to Nigeria bringing much needed supplies (including bicycles) and hope for the future for those less fortunate. He was president of the ACMC Board and Board member of Goodwill Industries. Close to his heart was being a member of the Board of Hospice of the Western Reserve. A community-minded person, Neroy was also the Chaplin of the Sheffield Volunteer Fire Department. Neroy is survived by his wife of forty-six years, Nadena; children, Neroy M. Carter of Columbus, Shianna Carter of Ashtabula, and Jacob Ethan Lee Carter of Kingsville; grandchildren, Trevor Carter, Aniylah L. and Antwon D. Chatman; his father, Mack R. (Johnny) Carter; brother, Mac E. (Shirley) Carter of Ashtabula, Ron Carter of Myrtle Beach, SC, Arthur Carter of Bridgeport, CT, Phillis (Prince) Russell of Providence, RI; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Gwendolyn Stegall, Brenda House, and Steve (Sharon) Stegall; and loving nephews, nieces, and cousins. Neroy was preceded in death by his mother, Ida M. (Edwards) Carter; stepfather James F. Edwards; and brothers, Paul C. Edwards, Isaiah Carter. Calling hours will be held from 5-7PM Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at the DUCRO FUNERAL HOME, 4524 Elm Avenue, Ashtabula and at the Pentecostal Community Church of Jefferson, 5348 Peck Road, Jefferson from 11AM-12NOON Wednesday, December 29, 2021 with a service to follow at 12 Noon. Pastor Scott Ardary will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, N. Kingsville with full military honors.
