Obituary of Gary Eugene Leonard
Please share a memory of Gary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
PIERPONT - Gary Eugene Leonard, 65, of Pierpont passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on January 1, 2022.
He was born October 6, 1956 in Ashtabula, the son of Kay B. and Dorrine (Tanner) Leonard and had been a lifelong area resident.
A 1975 graduate of Edgewood High School, he married Cathy M. (Carr) Bielowski on December 8, 2011 in Jefferson.
Gary was a "Jack of all trades." He worked for a while for Ashtabula Rubber Company, in the oil fields, continually helped on the family farm as well as the Holden farm for a number of years, and then worked as an independent contractor doing construction and carpentry work, often with the Amish whom he provided transportation to on many occasions.
He enjoyed fishing, making wood clocks and other carpentry projects with his father, cheering for the Pittsburgh Steelers, and doing word search puzzles.
His survivors include his wife of 10 years, Cathy Leonard; two sons, Neil Leonard of Conneaut and Andrew Leonard of Pierpont; 10 grandchildren, Emily, Chase, Vannessa, Jack, Madalynn, Samantha, Aaron, Nevaeh, Eli, and Osiris; and two sisters, June Linder and Rose Mary Wiser, both of Pierpont; step-daughter, Sara G. Bates and her children: Julia, Lauren, Jackson, Maxwell, and Cordelia; several nieces and nephews; his mother-in-law, Norma M. Carr; as well as many extended family and close friends including Donnie Brain, Billy Weaver, Phil Dietrich, and David Miller.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia (Farrell) Leonard in 2000; one son, Michael Leonard; one grandson, Wyatt Leonard; one brother, Jerry Leonard; his parents; and his father-in-law, John A. Carr, Jr.
Calling hours will be Sunday, January 9, 2022 from 2-5PM with a service to held at 11AM on Monday, January 10, 2022 at the CHILDS-WILLIAMS-DUCRO FUNERAL HOME, 1071 SR 7, Pierpont. Pastor Larry Carr of the Pierpont Presbyterian Church and Pastor Brad White will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Pierpont.
