Obituary of David Homer Holden
Please share a memory of David to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
David Homer Holden, 83, of Pierpont, passed away peacefully with family by his side on
January 5, 2022, at UH Geauga Medical Center.
He was born January 27, 1938, in Jefferson, Ohio, the son of Donald and Jean Holden.
David was a lifelong resident of Pierpont, graduating from Pierpont High School in 1956. He
married Janice Brown on June 16, 1957, and they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary, one
month before she passed in 2017.
David served in the Marine Corp. from 1956-1958. He delivered milk, owned a pop
route, and worked in the oil field before commencing an 18-year career with Rockwell Brake in
Saybrook, OH. He then achieved his dream of spending the last 40 years of his life as a
self-employed dairy farmer and working in the timber industry.
David was an active member of the Pierpont Presbyterian Church, where he held
positions of a Sunday School teacher and Trustee. He derived great satisfaction from being a
steward of the land and caring for his livestock. When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed fishing,
hunting, reading, playing cards with his friends, and spending time with his immediate and
extended family.
David is survived by his children Cynthia (Michael) Fichera of Cornwall, NY, Debra
(Maxwell) Thompson of Monrovia, Liberia, and Glen (Robin) Holden of Pierpont; brother, Pat
Holden of Pierpont, brother-in-law Bill (Louise) Brown of Phoenix; grandchildren, Alex Fichera
and Giovanna Fichera, Andrew Holden and Olivia Holden, Jay Thompson (Michelle) Sara
deLima (Ubiratan), Lydia Nascimento (Everaldo), Ramah Provost (Kyle), and Marcelly
Thompson; great-grandchildren, Jonathan, David, and Ryder Thompson, Kairo, Kimberly,
Karissa, Kenzy Nascimento; Caleb, Micah, and Aria Provost; as well as many nieces and
nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Janice Holden and an infant son, Lee David.
