ASHTABULA – Joseph Glenn Viton, known to most as "Joe V", 64, of Jefferson Road passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 17, 1957 in Ashtabula, the son of the James and Ninetta (Hawes) Viton and had been a lifelong area resident. A 1975 graduate of Ashtabula High School, he worked the past 18 years for Wheeler Rex where he just retired from as the shipping and receiving manager. A lifelong sports fan, Joe loved to play basketball, softball, and golf. Over the years, he played for softball teams sponsored by the Crow's Nest, Queenie's Lounge, and the Locker Room. He had a great sense of humor and many looked forward to his daily jokes and sarcasm. Always very frugal, he believed that duct tape could fix anything and always tried to fix it before buying something new. Joe enjoyed rock music and loved animals, especially his dog Meatball and kitty Chu. His survivors include his wife, Gina (Castaldo) Viton; two children, Ariel Dominique (Tyler) Hill of Ashtabula and James George (Jan ) Viton of Las Vegas, NV; four grandchildren, Carson, Colbie, Cartor, and Cathryne; one sister, Glenetta (Bruce) Campbell of Ashtabula; mother-in-law Teresa Castaldo; a niece, Eileen (Wally) Lininger; a nephew, Jim (Terri) Campbell; four great-nephews and 1 great-niece; a sister-in-law, Lisa (John) Kirby; three brother-in-laws, George (Maria), John (Dolores), and Robert Castaldo; many nieces and nephews on his wife's side. He was preceded in death by his parents, his father-in-law, and grandparents on both sides. Calling hours will be held from 4-7PM on Friday, January 14, 2022 at the ZABACK-WILLIAMS-DUCRO FUNERAL HOME, 500 West Prospect Road, Ashtabula. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10AM on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at Our Lady of Peace, St. Joseph Church, 3312 Lake Ave., Ashtabula. Fr. Matthew Zwilling will preside. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Plymouth Twp. Contributions in his memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital. www.ducro.com
