Margrete J. McCloud, 96, a resident of Ashtabula, Ohio since 1955, passed away bravely Wednesday, the 12th, of January 2022. Margrete was born August 24,1925 in Logan, WV and was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Daisy Jude, an infant daughter, Laura McCloud, sisters, Christine Pennington, and Lucinda York and brother Paul Jude. Margrete is survived by a son, William (Anita) H. McCloud, Jr of Stow, OH; four daughters, Drenna Wene of Lebanon, OH, Sherry McCloud of Ashtabula, OH, Nancy (Jeff) Clark of Columbus GA. and Amy (Art) Venditti of Ashtabula, OH; 11 grandchildren, Ian (Kelsey) McCloud, Kathleen (Chad) Myers, Monique (Jason) Campbell, Brad (Stefanie) Franko, Jessica Hawkins, Emory (Kelly) Clark, Ethan Clark, Alaina (Peter) Venditti, Elise (Patrick) Venditti-Milligan, Allison Venditti, and Emily Venditti; 15 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. As a member of the "Greatest Generation" she grew up during the Great Depression Era, and shortages created during WWll, gained a great respect for the value of the dollar. Yet, as a result of her generous spirit and pleasant personality, Margrete was loved by many. Prior to her retirement in 1994, she worked at Farmer's National Bank, responsible for ushering in and implementing the first Master Card program, retiring as an Assistant Vice President at Society National Bank in Ashtabula in 1989 after receiving several awards for achievements, and then worked for Dr. C. L. McClain for five years. During her employment at the bank, she was a member of the Altrusa Club and the Credit Women's International. Margrete loved flower gardening, puzzles, doing for and being with her family at all times, especially on every holiday. Prior to voluntarily relinquishing her car keys, she traveled to visit family and friends at every opportunity. A member of the First Baptist Church in Ashtabula for many years, she resided at Country Club Rehabilitation Campus from November 2018 until her passing. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, January 19, 2022, from 5-7PM at the Zaback-Williams-Ducro Funeral Home, 500 W. Prospect Rd., Ashtabula, Private family services will be observed, and interment will be at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in North Kingsville, Ohio. Expressions of sympathy may be made in her name to the First Baptist Church, 4353 Park Ave., Ashtabula, Ohio 44004 The family requests masks be worn for services.
