Obituary of Ival Dean Newsome

Ival D. Newsome LEXINGTON, S.C.- Ival D. Newsome, age 87 passed away Friday January 21, 2022, at Lexington Medical Center, South Carolina with family at her side. Ival was born February 27, 1934, in Beaver Kentucky. She is the daughter of the late Keenis and Frankie (Mullins) Hamilton. Ival was immensely proud of achieving her high school diploma in 1979 at age 45. She married Bobby Newsome, September 24, 1952, and they celebrated 66 years of cherished memories. Ival attended Lily of the Valley Old Regular Baptist Church in Geneva, Ohio. She worked at Yoder Brothers Greenhouse, Iten Fiber, Carlisle’s Stow-Away and Kardohely’s Restaurant. Ival was also an Avon and Mary Kay Sales Lady and enjoyed babysitting. She enjoyed flowers, birds, Perch fishing on Lake Erie, and spending time with family; and had a love of Country and Bluegrass music playing the guitar and banjo in her earlier years. Ival had a collection of dolls, enjoyed preparing her special battered Fried Fish, loved to tell stories, had many sayings such as “How Now Brown Cow” and had the unique ability of being able to recite her ABC’s backwards. She lived to become the matriarch of FIVE Newsome generations. Ival is survived by, her daughter Deborah (Neal) Smoak of Lexington SC, and son Gregory (Sharon) Newsome of Ashtabula Ohio; grandchildren are Michelle (Michael) Paulchel, Jason, Jeremey, Jacob and Jordan Newsome; great grandchildren, Jessica, Michael and Ashlee Paulchel; McKinley, Jaycee, Jason, Chelsia Newsome; Payton, Ashley, Levi, Keen Newsome, and Millie Newsome; great-great grandchildren, Jaxton Dobson and Axel Paulchel. She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband Bobby; siblings Tolby Hamilton, Claude Hamilton, Odra Hamilton, Avenel Ray, Ethel Hamilton, Jean Vance, Ishmael Hamilton, Genene Sloan, Burchell (Jerry) Hamilton, and Flossie Hall. Services are Friday, January 28, 2022, at 1PM at Ducro Funeral Home, 4524 Elm Avenue, Ashtabula, Ohio. Pastors, Evan Hamilton and Scott Hamilton sharing the word of God. Burial at Saybrook Cemetery.
