Patricia (Corlew) Shackelford, 68, of Westlake, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, January 21, 2022, at UH-Cleveland Medical Center. She was joined by her beloved husband, Joseph Gregory Shackelford, 72, of Westlake, who passed away on Monday, January 24, 2022, at St. John Medical Center. Born August 11, 1953, in Ashtabula, Patty was a daughter of the late Ronald and Theta (Crane) Corlew. Joe, born December 15, 1949, in Los Angeles, was a son of the late Edwin Melvin and Margaret Elizabeth (Howard) Shackelford. A 1971 graduate of Edgewood High School, Patty became a Registered Nurse having completed the program at Trumbull Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1974. She went on to study at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago from 1975-1977 and graduated from Bible Institute of Los Angeles (BIOLA) in 1979 earning her bachelor’s degree in nursing. Joe studied at Rio Hondo College, Whittier College and BIOLA in La Mirada, CA between 1968 and 1971 and served the Orange County Probation Department as a Deputy Probation Counselor between 1972 and 1988. From 1988 until retirement, he served Orange County Superior Court as a court clerk. Married on August 18, 1984, Joe and Patty spent 37 happy years together. The couple saw a long-held dream fulfilled when they settled in Volant, PA in 2004. They joined Nashua Orthodox Presbyterian Church where Joe served as an Elder and Patricia taught Sunday school for many years. The couple loved nature, taking Sunday drives, walks through the woods, watching birds in the yard and nature programs on television. Patty loved sharing family news and displayed her affection for them in the dozens of quilts and cross stitch pictures she made for grandchildren and great nieces and nephews. Joe loved to read and discuss theology and he collected a remarkable library of Puritan works. Most of all, Joe and Patty cared deeply for the people around them and wanted all to know Christ’s love for them. They are survived by their children, John-Mason (Sarah) Shackelford, Benjamin (Kareen) Shackelford, and Jeremiah Shackelford; 11 grandchildren, Helen, Beatrice, Nathaniel, Ava, John, Andrew, Laura, Benjamin, Ethan, Cole, and Drew; and many nieces and nephews. Patty is also survived by her siblings; Ronald (Cindy) Corlew, Rev. Kevin (Suzanne) Corlew, and Eric Corlew. Joe is also survived by his brother, Ed (Luanne) Shackelford. They were preceded in death by their parents and their grandson, Tobias. Calling hours will be held from 11AM to 1PM on Saturday, February 5, 2022, at Zaback-Williams-Ducro Funeral Home, 500 W.
