Obituary of Jeff Harcourt

Jeffrey J. Harcourt ASHTABULA - Jeffrey James Harcourt, 69 passed away unexpectedly, January 19, 2022, at his home. The son of Edward and Margaret (Warren) Harcourt, Jeff was born on November 22, 1952, in Geneva, Ohio. He was a graduate of Jefferson Area High School. His class just celebrated high school graduation with their 50th reunion where he was able to be with his friends and share stories. At a young age Jeff contracted Polio which affected his ability to participate in sports and some other activities. Polio did not define Jeff; he overcame his disability and was a dedicated employee of ELKEM Metals. He was employed for thirty years in the machine maintenance department prior to his retirement. Jeff never really retired, he worked at Giant Eagle and enjoyed greeting the customers and working with his fellow employees, whom he considered his friends and family. Jeff would mow lawns for his neighbors, go to Deb’s Diner almost every morning for a good cup of coffee and conversation. He was a “foodie” he enjoyed picnics and reunions, it was a time to be with friends and family and to share his cooking skills with those in attendance. Jeff had a sense of humor which he shared with everyone. Jeff is survived by his son, Jason Bernier; siblings, Sherry and Bob Gleason, Terry Bevins, Edwin and Jeanette Harcourt and Julie Harcourt; loving nieces and nephews. Jeff was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Margaret Harcourt. Memorial Services will be held at 2PM on Friday, February 25, 2022, in the Mausoleum Chapel at Greenlawn Memory Gardens, 3140 East Center Street, North Kingsville, Ohio.
