Obituary of Jeffrey Michael Mead, Sr.

Jeffrey M. Mead, Sr. ASHTABULA- Jeffrey Michael Mead, Sr. passed away unexpectedly, Monday, January 31, 2022, at ACMC. The son of Robert J. and Beatrice L. (Castrilla) Mead Sr., Jeff was born on March 12, 1963, in Ashtabula. A graduate of St. John High School class of 1982. Jeff and Maria were together for twenty-five years and on May 30, 2003, they made it official. Their marriage was one of commitment, mutual love and respect. They were each other’s best friend. Jeff worked at Lincoln Electric for twenty years as an extruder operator; retiring in 2017. He enjoyed being with his coworkers, sharing stories of their families. Jeff was a renaissance man he could do it all. He grilled and smoked meat for get togethers at his home; was generous to his neighbors, mowing their grass, plowing their driveways, trimming trees or doing what ever they asked of him. If it had a motor, Jeff liked it, cars, tractors, four wheelers and dirt bikes, Jeff rode or drove them all. Jeff was a member of a rock and roll band while in high school and still loved to make and listen to music. He was an animal lover an though he pretended he had too many pets there was always room for one more. He and Maria rescued Miniature Schnauzers and cats giving them a good life. Bonfires with Jeff were never ordinary; they were large and made especially for good conversation and a beer. He and his friends would go to the gun range and shoot targets for hours. A true people person, Jeff shared his time and talents with others. Jeff will be remembered as a loving brother, son, husband, dad, mentor and friend. He supported you in your disappointments and sorrows; shared in your successes and joys. Jeff is survived by his loving wife, Maria Mead; children, Angel (Michael) Stringer and Amanda (Nicholas Kework) Colbourn; sister, Patricia Schick; sister-in-law, Sharon Mead; loving nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and many friends. Jeff was preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey M. Mead, Jr., brother, Robert J. Mead, Jr. and his parents, Robert and Beatrice Mead Sr., and many pets.
