Larry D. Boysaw ASHTABULA- Larry Dean Boysaw, 72 passed away on Wednesday, February 9, 2022, after short illness. The son of Glare and Evelyn Mozelle (Jenkins) Boysaw, Larry was born on April 15, 1949, in Ashtabula. He attended Ashtabula High School and remained a lifelong area resident. Larry joined the United States Army during the height of the Vietnam War. During his service to his country, he was awarded the Purple Heart for Valor during service. After his honorable discharge, Larry returned to Ashtabula to continue his life. Never asking to be recognized for his bravery, just doing his job and caring for his family. Larry and his beloved wife Lenora Barnes were united in marriage on October 15, 2004. They have been together since 1985, during their thirty-six years of dedication to each other, they created many memories, which are now treasures of the heart. Larry was a sports fanatic, football, baseball and the Ohio State Buckeyes! He was an avid gardener and landscaper. You could find him tending his garden and the lawn. Larry’s house had the best-looking yard on the block, and he encouraged his neighbors to do the same. He enjoyed traveling with Lenore and their many trips to Washington D.C. often visiting the various memorials particularly the Vietnam War Memorial. He was a member of the ANU, VFW #943 and American Legion Post #103. He and his fellow members would share stories of their time in the military; those times of sharing were an important part of his life allowing him to recount those things that gave him long nights of bad dreams. His sleep came easier after those moments shared. Larry will be remembered as a dedicated husband, dad, grandpa and great grandpa. He was dedicated to his family; his encouragement to those he loved will be remembered. Larry is an American Hero and his sacrifice for his country will be remembered by those whom he saved.
