Obituary of Carol Lynn Misinec

Please share a memory of Carol to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
On Friday, February 11, 2022, Carol L. Misinec (nee Davies), 74, of Ashtabula, passed peacefully from this life to be lovingly reunited with her mom and mother-in-law. She was born on December 7, 1947, as the youngest child to William and Ellajean (nee Grossart) Davies. Carol was a lifelong resident of Ashtabula where she attended Ashtabula High School graduating in 1963. Carol attended college for a short time after high school while working at Rockwell International and Ashtabula General Hospital. On April 17, 1971, Carol and Joe married surrounded by family and friends at St. Joseph Church in Ashtabula. Carol wanted nothing more than to be a Mom and was given that gift when she had her children, JR and Jodi. She immersed herself in her role as a Stay at Home Mom, until they were school aged. At that time, she followed them to school, volunteering many hours at Mother of Sorrows School. Not long after, she began working at the school in various positions so she could continue to be involved in her children's lives. She had a bonus son from Spain, Santiago, who lived with them his senior year in high school. Years later she earned the title Mimi and was over the moon with pride when her grandchildren were born. Carol measured success by her children and grandchildren. She would burst with joy over their smallest accomplishments. Joe was able to tend to business knowing Carol was handling everything at home. Carol and Joe celebrated 50 years of wedded bliss surrounded by family and friends in 2021. They were committed to each other and their family, overcoming obstacles and celebrating achievements together. As an empty nester, Carol traded her snow boots for a sundress and they headed south during the winter months. She spent 20 years building friendships, making memories and a loving second home for her and Joe. Carol beat to her own drum and was true to herself. She was always up for anything and enjoyed life. She loved a loud casino, a noise filled home, hosting many parties, picnics or just having people in and out of the house. If you entered her home, you instantly were welcomed and expected to make yourself comfortable. Known for making her own language, Carolism's were a regular occurrence. Carol was preceded in death by her Mom, Ellajean and her in-laws, Joseph and Emily. She is survived by her loving husband, her sons, JR (Tammy), Santiago (Teresa) and daughter, Jodi (Alan), her grandchildren, Joey, Emma, Juan, Sarah, Lupe, Lucy, Becca, Teresita and Nacho; sister, Diane Davies; and many other cherished family members and many friends who were like family. Carol had a lifelong love for children, her own as well as others. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donations be made in Carol's memory to the Ashtabula Foundation, 4510 Collins Blvd Suite 6, Ashtabula, Ohio 44004 (Memo Line- Youth Enrichment Programs) or Kent State University, Ashtabula, c/o Dean Susan Stocker, 3300 Lake Road West, Ashtabula, Ohio 44004 (Memo Line: Selip-Misinec Endowed Scholarship).
