Obituary of James Ivar Lindberg

James Ivar Lindberg James Ivar Lindberg saw his final sunset on January 13, 2022 in Clearwater, Florida. Born on August 23, 1934, he graduated from the United States Naval School of Music, Class ‘A’ in 1952 then served in the United States Navy on the USS Baltimore; he was a member of the Naval Band playing the trombone. He was awarded a Navy Occupation Service Medal [Europe] and the National Defense Service Medal. And in June 1953, he played and represented the United States Navy at Queen Elizabeth II’s Coronation. Additional honors include recognition for Ohio University’s Summer Music Clinic, The United States Power Squadron Merits, and The President’s Volunteer Action Award for Ashtabula County. He retired from Alltel in 1993 and served as an Ashtabula Area City Schools Bus Driver for 15 years. As a member of Ashtabula Messiah Lutheran Church, he was reaffirmed in Baptism in November 1990. He also was a valued member of Exchange Club, the Lion’s Club, Rotary, Yacht Club, and the Masonic Temple. Jim served as a Councilman for the Rome Rock Creek Association for several terms in differing capacities. With music as his passion, he was a cherished member of the Conneaut Sounds of Sousa Band, the Tuba Lighthouse Band, the Bridge Street Brass Band, the Ashtabula Orchestra, the Blues Project, and finally the Ashtabula Symphonic Band. Jim provided private lessons for over 20 years, and generations smiled as they sang and danced to his music. Passed before him, parents Henry and Marion, sister Lois, and son-in-law Dan. He is survived by his sister Kathryn, wife Pamela, five beloved children Kristina, Kristopher, Ralph, Angalica, and Emelia (Shyanna). Jim was proud of his many grandchildren across the country. The family is blessed with treasured memories, formidable tales, and gems of wisdom. A celebration of Life will be held at 11am on February 26, 2022 at Messiah Lutheran Church, 615 West Prospect Road, Ashtabula, Ohio,44004. Rev. Dr. Michael Meranda, Pastor officiating. It was Jim’s wish, in lieu of flowers, that everyone gazes at a Lake Erie sunset, raise a glass, and remember him with a smile.
