Obituary of William H. Whitbread

William "Bill" H. Whitbread, age 81 of Ashtabula, died peacefully in his sleep on Monday, February 14, 2022 at home. He was born January 17, 1941 in Erie, PA to the late Leslie Whitbread and Isabelle (Hall) Morrow. A 1960 graduate of East High School in Erie, PA, he served in the U.S. Army as a Sergeant from 1961-1964 and in the Reserves from 1964-1970. While in the service, Bill served as a Master Aircraft Mechanic - Helicopter - Fixed Wing. After being honorably discharged, Bill wore many hats over the years. He was a Law Enforcement officer, a Firefighter, EMT, Personal security guard, Investigator, and an Ordained Minister. In his early years, he liked talking to his trucker friends using the C.B. Handle Pink Elephant. His greatest enjoyment in life was taking care of others and making friends at the Gulfview Towers. Bill is survived by his children: Tammy (Bruce) Stills-Mann, Tom (Stephanie) Whitbread, and James (Jackie) Whitbread; grandchildren: Jordan Stills, Courtney (Cam) Whitbread, Kirstyn Whitbread, Olivia Whitbread, Carter Whitbread and Bentley Kalyn; loyal furry companion: Dusty Rose; and many friends at Gulfview Towers. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jack; and dog, Scoop. Visitation will be held from 11 am - 12 pm, Saturday, February 19, 2022 at the Zaback-Williams-Ducro Funeral Home, 500 W. Prospect Road, Ashtabula, OH 44004. A funeral service will follow at 12 pm at the funeral home. Contributions in memory of Bill may be made to the family.
