Obituary of JoAnne P. Nagle

JoAnne Patricia Nagle, 91, formerly of Ashtabula, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on
Tuesday, March 15, 2022, in Marysville, Ohio.
She was born October 30, 1930, in Warren, Ohio the daughter of the late Thomas J. and Mary Esther
(Seeds) O'Connell. JoAnne graduated from Ursuline High School in the Class of 1948. She went on to
receive her degree as a registered nurse from St. Elizabeth School of Nursing, Class of 1950.
JoAnne married the love of her life Joseph Francis Nagle on December 14, 1960. Friends and family
were very important to her and Joe as they hosted perch fish fries, their annual friends & family
Christmas party, and their favorite holiday, St. Patrick's Day.
JoAnne was an excellent nurse whom colleagues and patients referred to as "Nurse Nagle". JoAnne
spent the majority of her nursing career working at the Ashtabula General Hospital until her
retirement in 1998. She then began work as a volunteer with Birthcare (1998-2000) providing
assistance to young mothers prior to delivery. This enabled JoAnne to reach a long-time goal of
maintaining her nursing degree for 50 years.
Joanne was preceded in death by her husband of almost 50 years, Joseph, on February 25, 2010; her
son, Patrick Nagle; granddaughter, Jamie Korb; grandson, Joshua Nagle; and her parents.
She is survived by her children, Mark (Monica) Nagle, Lakewood, Ohio, Thomas (Kimberly) Nagle,
Geneva, Ohio, James (Mechele) Nagle, Ashtabula, Ohio, Denise (John) Oravecz, Pittsburgh, PA,
Colleen Cerni, Geneva, Ohio and Nora (Phillip) Schooley, of Marysville, Ohio.
Siblings are, M. Judith Smith, Amelia Island, FL and Michael J. O'Connell (Sandy), South Bend, IN.

Joan M. Thomas (Blaine) Huntsburg, Aron Schooley Hilliard, and Jacqueline A. Briggs (John) Wooster.
Great grandchildren, Lilly, John, & Michael Oravecz, Elliot Lati, Joseph, Winnie & Jack Nagle, Logan
& Connor Miceli, Garrett Flick, Angelina Parrish, Aryanna, Annmarie & Allison Pillar, Raelynn
Thomas and Daniel Briggs.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2022, at 2 PM at the Zaback-Williams-Ducro
Funeral Home, 500 W. Prospect Rd., Ashtabula. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in
Ashtabula.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday from 12PM until the time of service at 2PM.
In lieu of flowers, per Joanne's request memorial contributions in her name may be made to Brookdale Hospice in c/o Nora Schooley, 1725 Tamarac Dr., Marysville, Ohio 43040.
