Charles F. Reed ASHTABULA- Charles F. Reed, 81, passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2022, and was surrounded in love by his family as went to join his beloved wife, Arlene. The son of Carl and Lucille (Bliss) Reed. Charles was born on November 12, 1940, in Milford Center, Ohio. A proud veteran of the United States Army Charles was honorably discharged in 1965. A man with a great work ethic, Charles was one of the first employees at Rockwell Industries and one of the last three to lock the doors. Not wanting to be retired, he then delivered newspapers for the Star Beacon. June 21, 1963, Arlene Love and Charles Reed were united in marriage and were inseparable until her passing in 2017. Charles and Arlene were married for fifty-four years. The memories created during their marriage were treasures of the heart for Charles. Charles enjoyed a great game of pool and reading. He could be spotted outside mowing the yard and tending his tomato plants. His greatest joy came from being a husband, dad, grandpa and great grandpa. Charles was encouraging but was not afraid to let you know it could have been done better, “if you would have just listened”. He wanted the best for his family, he was proud of their many accomplishments. Charles is survived by his children, Carl (Carol) Reed, Tina (John Hodgkinson) Reed, and Gary (Tina Watson) Reed all of Ashtabula, seven very special grandchildren, Carl, Charles, Kristina, Darayl, Annie, Eric, and DJ; twenty seven beloved great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; sister, Mary Swinning; many loving nieces and nephews and friends.
