Obituary of Dorlene Grace Loomis

Dorlene Grace Loomis, age 81, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Sunday, April 17, 2022. She was born July 10, 1940, in Beaver Center, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Harley Braden and Marie (Pontius) Bradley. Dorlene married the love of her life, Alvin Loomis, on December 28, 1955, and together they shared 58 years of love and laughter until his passing in 2012. Dorlene was one of the first female EMT’s at the Sheffield Fire Department. She also worked for over 30 years at Winnie’s Florist and drove School Bus for Jefferson Area City Schools. Over the years, she also worked at Kay’s Place Restaurant in Kingsville, and most recently before her retirement she worked as a nurse’s aid at the Ashtabula County Nursing Home and in Home Health Care. Mrs. Loomis enjoyed camping and sewing and will forever be remembered for her famous peanut butter fudge and her cinnamon rolls. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. Dorlene is survived by her children, Randy (Beth) Loomis, Rosemary Loomis, Becky (Gary) Fuller, Cindy Loomis, and Penny Dove; 15 grandchildren; 41 great grandchildren and 16 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Alvin; son, John David Loomis; grandsons, Jayden Balliet, Bradley Loomis, and Haydn Xavier Sackett; brothers, Robert Bradley, Ken Bradley, and Pete Braden; and her parents, Harley, and Marie. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2022, at 1PM at Ducro Funeral Services, 4524 Elm Ave., Ashtabula, with Rev. Les Bolen officiating. Burial will follow at Gageville Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Saturday, April 23,2022 from 11AM until the time of service at 1PM.
