Obituary of Mabel Hayes Young

ASHTABULA- Mabel (Hayes) Young, 86, passed away on Monday, April 11, 2022, at ACMC. Born December 13, 1935, in Paintsville, KY, she was a daughter of the late Guss and Jessie (Daniels) Hayes. On April 20, 1961, Mabel married the love of her life, Denzil R.”Bob” Young Sr. At the time of his passing in 2018, they had shared fifty-six years of love and devotion together and created many cherished memories throughout the years. Mabel was a member of Gateway Church, Ashtabula. Strong in her faith, Mabel and her best friend, Pat Shank would say their devotions and sing together for over twenty years. In her spare time, she enjoyed cooking, gardening and canning. Mabel treasured family gatherings and reunions. Known for speaking her mind, Mabel did this with your best interest at heart. Known to many as selfless and caring, Mabel was a very devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her family was her entire world. Left to cherish her memories is her daughter, Jeanette (Daniel) Lister of Pierpont, her son, Denzil R. “Bob” Young Jr. of Ashtabula; precious granddaughter, Phoebe Luree of Ashtabula; sisters in law, Betty Jo Hayes and Pamela Hayes of Cincinnati Anna and Emily Forman whom she treasured as family. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Denzil R. “Bob” Young, Sr. on January 28, 2018; her daughter, Catherine Calaway on April 14, 2010; her siblings, Christine Lafferty, Margaret Cantrell, South Hayes, Claude Hayes, Guss Hayes, Jr., Sally Castle, Glenn and John Hayes and Lucille McFaddin; and her parents. Funeral Services 1PM Friday April 15, 2022, at the Zaback-Williams-Ducro Funeral Home, 500 West Prospect Road, Ashtabula, Ohio. Burial will be in Ridgeview Cemetery, Ashtabula, Ohio. Calling hours will be observed from 11AM until 1PM on Friday, April 15, 2022, at the Zaback-Williams-Ducro Funeral Home, 500 West Prospect Road, Ashtabula, Ohio.
