Obituary of Mark Cecil Grant

Please share a memory of Mark to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mark C. Grant Mark Cecil Grant passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 27, 2022. He was 54 years old. Mark was born March 29, 1968, in London, England. He was the only son to the now deceased Ruth Grier and George Erdle Grant but was adopted and raised by his grandparents, Sylvia and Sydney Grier. Mark spent most of his childhood and youth in Southern California where he attended La Sierra High School. It was there he met his life-long friend, Darren Swan, who was the best man at his wedding. In 1988, Mark and his family relocated to Erie, Pennsylvania where he worked for Emsco for several years. He then decided to move to Concord, Ohio, to be closer to his future wife, Anika Lynette Avery, whom he married on May 3, 1998. After building a home in Roaming Shores, they welcomed their first daughter, Ayanna Hadassah, on December 11, 2003, and their second, Naloni Hadarah, on October 4, 2005. Mark was a devoted and attentive father who adored his girls, taking an active part in their lives from changing their diapers, to taking them to their many gym and violin classes. He worked hard to never miss a recital and continuously encouraged and supported them in everything they did. Mark began his career at Lincoln Electric in 1996 and eventually worked his way up to the Parts department where he continued to work until the day he passed away. His work ethic, integrity, and dedication to his job made him an invaluable asset to his department. He was well loved by many of his colleagues with whom he formed lasting friendships. Mark’s very generous and amiable personality endeared him to so many people. He loved to share his knowledge of electronics and computers notably with his friend Bob and was more than happy to tinker with anyone’s computer just for the joy of learning. Mark was very open about his religious experience and his struggles with life. He would engage all his close friends in conversations about God and the Bible. As his faith deepened, His love of the Lord continued to grow and strengthen. Mark was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, his Uncle Michael, and his younger sister, Amanda Grier. He leaves behind his loving wife, Anika Lynette Avery-Grant, and his two beautiful daughters, Ayanna and Nilani, as well as his brothers, Tesfaye and Petros, his Uncle Joseph, his niece Tatiana; sister-in-law Siena(Reginald) Peters, Sr. and their sons; brothers-in-law, Ekene Avery and Jelon Avery as well as other loved ones.
