Obituary of James Emery Bassin

James E. Bassin, 60, of Ashtabula passed away unexpectedly on Friday, April 29, 2022, at the Cleveland Clinic. The son of the late Forrest and Catherine (Minerd) Bassin. he was born December 4, 1961, in Uniontown, Pennsylvania and the youngest of six children. He graduated from Uniontown High School in 1979. He then worked in construction and was a drummer in various bands in Pennsylvania and Ohio until health concerns made him stop. He attended Here’s Hope Church in Madison where his love of music continued and he played drums for their worship team for a short time. Jim loved music, playing his drums, being in the woods or outdoors, and of course his beloved cats both past and present. He is survived and deeply missed by his wife and best friend of 33 years, Diana (Casievich); children, Devan Bassin, Jason (Ashley Meyers) Bassin, and April Valerio; and grandchildren, Anthony, Adriana, Carmela, Liliana, and Nathan. Jim was preceded in death by his grandson, Dominic; his siblings, and his parents. The family finds comfort to know that “Dom” and “Paypap” are together…. free of pain, running, laughing, playing baseball and racing on the quads. A Celebration of Jim’s life will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2022, at 11AM at the Zaback-Williams-Ducro Funeral Home, 500 W. Prospect Rd., Ashtabula. Calling hours will be held on Saturday from 10AM until the time of service at 11AM.
