Kathryn A. McCarty ASHTABULA- Kathryn A. McCarty, 84 was joined her beloved, husband Raymond on May 23, 2022, surrounded in love by her sons. The daughter of Charles J. and Evelyn C.(McCool) Kathryn was born on December 16, 1937, in Ashtabula and had remained a lifelong resident. A member of the Harbor High School graduating class of 1955, Kathryn remained close with her classmates and enjoyed getting together for reunions and other occasions. A dedicated and dependable employee of First Merit Bank she enjoyed her interactions with her fellow employees and clients of the bank. They became like family and remained close after Kathryn retired. February 27, 1960, Kathryn and Raymond McCarty were united in marriage at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church and for fifty-six years Raymond and Kathryn traveled side-by-side in their marriage journey. The McCarty family was an integral part of the church; Kathryn was the unofficial “ambassador’ of St. Peter’s, she would take reading material and share news of the church with the those not able to attend. It was her calling, and it was done to perfection; she looked forward to her visits with her church family. Kathryn served in many capacities at the church, she was a Sunday School teacher, a member of the funeral committee, youth leader and belonged to the Women’s Guild. Kathryn enjoyed working in her flower gardens, chatting with the neighbors and attending Tuesday Lunch Bunch with her friends. She was able to calm the waters when others were frustrated; her calm demeanor and common sense led to mutual decisions beneficial to those concerned. Kathryn’s life came full circle when she had her sons, Tim and Kevin; they were her pride and joy, when her family grew to include daughters-in-law and grandchildren her heart was full. She nurtured her family, her love and enthusiasm for them was boundless. Kathryn will be remembered as a woman of faith, a devoted wife, dedicated mom, and doting grandma.
