Obituary of Francis Richard Capitena

Francis Capitena was born January 22,1935 and passed into the loving arms of God on May 30, 2022. Throughout his 87 years, Francis loved old cars, and wore many hats. He was a graduate of Edgewood High (1953), electrician, factory worker, builder, volunteer firefighter, gardener, little league coach, church usher, bazaar worker, and avid Cleveland sports fan….But what he loved the best were husband, dad and grandpa. Francis was born and lived his whole life in Ashtabula. There he also met and married Donna, his wife, of 66 years. He was a man of faith, who loved his church, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He is survived by wife Donna, and 6 children, Sandy Capitena, Mike Capitena (Dianne), Lorri Treen (Paul Calaway), Juli Capitena (Daniel Kuntz), Cindy Capitena (Paul Hilbert) and Mary Capitena-Bento (Tim Hunt, Jr), twelve Grandchildren, Christopher, Jennifer, Paul, Michael, Erin, Megan, Thomas, Andrea, Kimmy, Melanie, Anthony and Alexis and 13 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Delores Clarkson, many nephews, nieces, cousins, and good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Margaret (Yusko) and Carl Capitena, his sisters Betty Jean Capitena and Marjorie Welch, and his brother, Chuck Capitena. Calling hours will be Saturday, June 4, 2022, from 12-2, Mass of Resurrection to follow at Our Lady of Peace, Mt. Carmel Church, 1200 E. 21st, Ashtabula, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. John School or Saybrook Fire Department. The family requests masks be worn during services. Zaback-Williams-Ducro Funeral Home, 500 W.
