Obituary of Iva Mae Mitter

Iva Mae (Smith) Mitter, 81, was called into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Thursday, June 30, 2022 at Akron General Hospital. She was born on May 20, 1941 in Buckhannon, West Virginia; having lived most of her life in Kingsville, Ohio. Iva and her late husband John, were members of Kingsville First Baptist Church. While a member of the church, Iva has served on multiple boards and committees, led numerous youth activities and programs, and was active in almost all aspects of her church, a privilege she took seriously. Iva and her husband were also church custodians for many years. When she was not attending church meetings or doing custodial work, Iva enjoyed crafting, puzzles, painting, cooking, beach glass collecting, and spending time with her family. Iva was a strong, honest, caring woman who led by example. She will be remembered for her dedication to the Lord and his family; her willingness to help others and her love of laughter. Iva is survived by her son, Jason (Lisa) Mitter, daughter-in-law Kim Mitter; grandchildren, John, Josh (Mariah), James, Julia; great grandsons, Remington; Camden and Jamison; sister, Pam Harris; loving nieces and nephews and extended family. Iva was preceded in death by her beloved husband John Paul Mitter in 2020; dear son, John Mitter in 2018; siblings Bill Smith and Lina Bennett; and her parents. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Tuesday July 5, 2022 at Kingsville First Baptist Church, 6003 OH-193, Kingsville, with Rev. David Hines, officiating, where calling hours will be held from 10AM until the time of service at 11AM. Burial will follow at Lulu Falls Cemetery, Kingsville, Ohio.
