Obituary of Jon T. Field

Jon T. Field, 74, of Ashtabula passed away peacefully, Wednesday, July 13, 2022, at the Ashtabula County Medical Center. He was born January 12, 1948, in Ashtabula the son of the late Henry A. and Hilma M. (Raisanen) Field. Jon graduated from Harbor High School Class of 1966. He then went on to earn a bachelor's degree in 1970 from Baldwin Wallace. In 1971, he earned a master's degree in Public Administration from Kent State University. In 1980, Jon earned his Juris Doctorate from Ohio Northern University Claude W. Pettit College of Law. Jon was a local attorney in Ashtabula for many years. He also was a magistrate and acting judge at the Ashtabula Municipal Court. He retired in 2014. In his leisure time, Jon enjoyed golfing and bowling. He was an avid Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Guardians fan. Those left to cherish Jon's memory are his wife Mary E. (Pastorius) Field, whom he married on December 22, 1973; cousins, Roberta (Steve) Carrick, Amy (Greg) Merritt, and Eric (Nicole) Hodges; sister-in-law, Janis (Charles) Johnson; and brother-in-law, Ed (Janet) Pastorius. He was preceded in death by his aunts, Martha (George) Mackey, and Alice (Larry) Hoskins; uncle, Ray (Helena) Raisanen; cousin, Rebecca (Bill) Hodges; and his parents. The family wishes to extend special thanks to the following for their wonderful care of Jon; Capital Health Home Care, Nurse Rachel, and aides, Machelle and Rebecca; Dr. Carrillo, Dr. D'Silva, Dr. Muthusamy, and Dr. Ogunlesi; ACMC nurses and aides on 2 North, 4 North, and Wound Care Center; and the Hospice of the Western Reserve. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 18, 2022, at 1PM at the Ducro Funeral Home, 4524 Elm Ave., Ashtabula, Ohio with Pastor Michael Morris of the First Grace Gospel Church officiating. Burial will follow at Edgewood Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Monday from 11AM until the time of service at 1PM.
