Obituary of George Ralph Rheins

Ashtabula- July 27, 2022, George Ralph Rheins, 64 was surrounded in love as he went to his heavenly home. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. The son of Ernest and Johnnie (Harrison) Rheins, SR. Ralph was born on May 11, 1958, in West Palm Beach, Florida and moved to the Ashtabula area in 1990. Ralph was an active member of New Hope Church of God in Christ Ralph took no formal music lessons; he was blessed to be able to play by ear. Growing up in the Warren and Youngstown area and he first began playing for Friendship Baptist Church as well as other churches in the area. After moving to Ashtabula, Ralph was the organist for People’s Missionary Baptist Church and later was the organist of New Hope COGIC. He truly believed that you should make a joyful noise unto the Lord! A dedicated employee of GM Lordstown Plant, Ralph was employed for forty-one years. Ralph and Jeanette Chatman were married on May 17, 1994having celebrated their twenty-eighth wedding anniversary. As they traveled life’s highway they created many memories, living life to the fullest. Ralph gave of himself to others at Club Agape, he was proud to be sober and to share his story with others to let them know there was hope and sobriety. A good day for Ralph was a day of fishing, dropping a line waiting for a bite and relaxing in the sun. Being a part of the beauty of nature which surrounded him. Safe House Kennels was regionally known for the Pit Bulls that were bred, raised and trained at the facility. Ralph took great pride in his dogs, treating them with love and kindness and showing others that they were a good family dog. Ralph is survived by his wife, Jeanette; daughter Cherron (David) Lucas; loving grandchildren and great grandchildren; mother, Johnnie Rheins; siblings Flora Dix, Ernest (Barbara)Rains, Jr., Wali(Shakura)Kharif, Dennis Rains, Jacquelyn Raines, Jason Raines, Mark Rheins, Sr., Philemon Rheins, Mark Rheins, Jr., Miranda(Donald) Rheins- Guire; loving nieces and nephews and extended family members. Ralph was preceded on death by stepsons, Quentin Norman and Damien L. Norman, Sr.; his father Ernest Rheins, Sr.; siblings, Cynthia Raines and Kenneth Raines. Homegoing Services will be at 12 Noon on Friday, August 5, 2022, at the Greater Miracle Temple Church of God in Christ, 319 Lake Avenue, Ashtabula ,Ohio, 44004. Elder Emory Moore, Eulogist, Bishop Mitchell Jones presiding. Visitation will be from 10AM until time of services at the church. Ducro Funeral Services and Crematory, 4524 Elm Avenue, Ashtabula, Ohio is assisting the family.
