Patricia Mae Greenawalt May 27, 1949 – August 28, 2022 Patricia was born in Ashtabula, Ohio on May 27, 1949 to Joseph and Mary (Maurice) Greenawalt. The second daughter and second oldest of six children. A lifelong member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Ashtabula, she would go on to sing in their choir, teach Sunday School and Confirmation classes. She graduated from Ashtabula Harbor High School in 1967 and went on to obtain her bachelor’s at Kent State University in 1971 and a master’s at Edinboro College in 1979. She taught for Ashtabula City Schools for 40 years. Teaching both elementary and middle school. Helping many children to share her passion for reading. While teaching, she represented teachers at the local, state and national level for several Professional Teacher Organizations and was also elected the President of the Local Teachers Union for many years. Her biggest honor was being asked to serve on the Governor’s Board for Special Education/Reading for the state of Ohio. She was a Master Doll Crafter and Instructor. Many a little girl enjoyed the fruits of her labor receiving precious porcelain dolls with beautiful hair, perfect skin and fancy clothes. In addition to crafting dolls, she enjoyed gardening, music, sewing, reading and family. She was also a lifelong fan of all Cleveland and Ohio sports teams and felt the pain every single season of Cleveland Football and Baseball. She was an avid animal lover and rescuer. Rescuing and loving many cats and dogs. In her final years, settling down with her dog, Sadie, and the ever-present Napoleon, a chihuahua mix with a big attitude. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Mary. She is survived by her sister, Becky (Ray) Banfield, and her brothers James (Lynne) Greenawalt, Joseph (Cheryl) Greenwalt, William (Brenda) Greenawalt and Richard (Tammy) Greenawalt, many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews, many cousins and god children. She will be missed by all. Calling hours will be held from 6 PM - 8 PM on Friday, September 2, 2022, at the Zaback-Williams-Ducro Funeral Home, 500 West Prospect Road, Ashtabula. Funeral Service will be held at the Messiah Lutheran Church, 615 West Prospect Road, Ashtabula on Saturday, September 3, 2022 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Fred Grimm officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memory Gardens, North Kingsville. In Lieu of Flowers please make donations to the Messiah Lutheran Memorial Fund- 615 West Prospect Road, Ashtabula, Ohio 44004.
