Obituary of Perkey Lee Henton

Perkey L. Henton ASHTABULA -Perkey Lee Henton, 72 passed away on Thursday September 15, 2022, while a resident to Saybrook Landing. The son of Grady and Irene (Coleman) Henton, Perkey was born on August 20, 1950, in Winston MS. He lived in Rochester, NY area for many years; recently moving to Ashtabula to be near his family. Perkey was a member of Roofers Union Local 22 for thirty plus years. He had a wonderful work ethic which he passed to his children. A man of many talents and interests, Perkey in his younger years was a talented boxer and played basketball. He appreciated good music and was a fan of Bob Marley. His family was his focus, sitting with family and reminiscing about times past. He loved listening and adding a few comments along the way. Perkey is survived by his children, Michelle Henton, Kim Jerome (Terri Miller) Henton; grandson, Brandon Ford; stepson Terry Scott; siblings, Lester D. (Fern) Henton, Emmett (Connie) Henton, Anne Henton Johnson, Shephard (Annie) Henton and Ray (Janice) Henton; Dianne the mother of his children; many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Perkey was preceded in death by his wife, Georgia Scott Henton, parents, brother-in-law, Tony Johnson, and aunt, Bessie Coleman. Service of Remembrance will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2022; 11:00AM at Ducro Funeral Home, 4524 Elm Avenue, Ashtabula, Ohio, 44004; burial at Falls Cemetery Rochester, NY. A gathering of friends will be from 10:00AM to 11:00AM at the Funeral Home, Saturday, September 24, 2022. Perkey was proud his grandson, Brandon, was furthering his education; if desired contributions may be made to Brandon to assist with tuition.
