Obituary of Bonnie Marie Blenman

ASHTABULA – Bonnie Marie Blenman, 72, passed away peacefully Friday, October 14, 2022 at her home following a courageous 3-year battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born August 7, 1950 in Ashtabula, the daughter of John and Jean (Giangola) Carlo and had been a lifelong Ashtabula resident. A 1968 graduate of St. John High School, she worked for the Commercial Bank for several years before getting married on August 7, 1971 to the love of her life, Douglas Blenman, Sr. whom she dated since she was fifteen. She then raised her family and began working with her husband building the family business, ID Networks which was established in 1984. The matriarch of the family and CFO for ID Networks, she was devoted to her family and the business, helping Doug grow it from the ground up, even while raising her children and grandkids at the office. She enjoyed baking and cooking, shopping, craft fairs, watching the Hallmark Channel and attending daily mass (or watching EWTN Daily Mass when her health and the pandemic kept her home). Incredibly strong in her faith, she was a lifelong member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church where she was a longtime volunteer for the Perpetual Adoration. Bonnie will always be remembered by others as selfless, generous, kind, and beautiful (inside and out). More precious than gold to most, she was an amazing listener and always trying to help others. She generously gave to many charitable organizations and especially supported kids in the community, the military, nurses, and those in public safety/first responders. The nurses at the cancer center became like family to her. She made regular local donations and provided assistance to the community members suffering sudden tragedy and hardship. A sports fan, Bonnie especially loved watching her kids and grandkids at baseball, basketball, tennis, and dance competitions. She spoiled them all at every opportunity she had. She was in her glory at the holidays – decorating, cooking, and doing something special for all those near and dear to her. Her impact on those that knew her will never be forgotten. Her survivors include her husband of 51 years, Douglas G. Blenman, Sr.; three children, Douglas Blenman, Jr., Maria (John) Wheelock, and Eric Blenman; five grandchildren, Abigail, Ashton, Madeline, Carter, and Ana; two brothers, John (Mikki) Carlo and Robert (Lou) Carlo; one sister, Cathy (Steve) Churchya; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. Calling hours will be held 5-8 PM Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at the ZABACK-WILLIAMS-DUCRO FUNERAL HOME, 500 West Prospect Road, Ashtabula. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 AM Thursday, October 20, 2022 at Our Lady of Peace, Mt. Carmel Church, 1200 East 21st St., Ashtabula. Rev. Raymond Thomas will preside. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
