Obituary of Anthony G. Berinato

Anthony G. Berinato, 96, passed away on December 9, 2022, with his family by his side. A lifetime Ashtabula resident, he was born on January 28, 1926, to Antonio and Maria (Renda) Berinato. He graduated from Ashtabula High School in 1944. Following graduation, he joined the United States Air Force, where he was a gunner on a B-17 during World War II. Anthony returned home to work at various jobs with Rockwell International for 34 years before retiring in 1982. He was a member of Our Lady of Peace Church and was in the choir at Mother of Sorrows Church, UAW, Elks Club, Sons of Italy, and the Shamrock Club. Anthony enjoyed bowling, golfing, gardening, and woodworking. Anthony was preceded by his brothers and sisters: Josephine Mahaffey, Frank Bernato, Theresa Condron, Antoinette Singleton, Jean Soltis, Delores Carano, and Jenny Rose. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy (Sorice), whom he married on September 15, 1951, sons, David and Donald Berinato of Ashtabula, daughter, Diane Berinato of Columbus, niece, Shelby (John) Stimson of Ashtabula, and grandchildren, Caitlyn (Dan) Kowalski, Sam and Jake Stimson. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, December 14, 2022 at Mother of Sorrows Church, 1464 West 6th Street, Ashtabula at 11:00 AM. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, December 13, 2022, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Zaback Williams Ducro Funeral Home, 500 West Prospect Street, Ashtabula.
