Obituary of Ruth Ann Slack

North Kingsville- Ruth Ann Slack, 88, passed away on Sunday, December 18, 2022 at UH-Geauga Hospital.
She was born on December 25, 1933 in San Antonio, Texas the daughter of Marvin and Eula (nee: White) Gerber. Ruth Ann excelled in academics and graduated two years early from the San Antonio Brackenridge High School Class of 1950.
Ruth Ann met her husband while he was stationed in San Antonio and they married on June 16, 1956. After his honorable discharge they returned to Ohio to be closer to his family. Ruth Ann was a long-time member of Kingsville First Baptist Church and when the girls were young, she was a Girl Scout Troop Leader. Ruth Ann also enjoyed volunteering at BirthCare of Ashtabula, the Ashtabula APL, and the Ashtabula County Nursing Home, where she also helped with Bingo.
Living close to the North Kingsville Elementary School, she helped raise a village of children with after-school childcare and was something near and dear to her heart. Ruth Ann loved animals and always had a dog or cat in the home, and in her later years loved when the "grand dogs" visited. Always a Texas girl, she loved her Dallas Cowboys.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Melvin P. Slack; children, Karen (Richard) Endres, Kathy Slack, Glenn (Jeanie) Slack and Nancy (Dan) Smith; grandchildren, Ryan (Jackie) Endres, Renee Endres, Rachel Endres, Andrew Slack, Rachel (Ryan) Morgan, Luke Smith, Seth Smith, Shane (Olivia) Smith, and Jake Smith; and her great-grandchildren, Quincy, Alexa, Austin, Carter, Harper, and Greyson.
Ruth Ann was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Allen Wayne Gerber.
Calling hours will be held, Tuesday, December 27, 2022 from 5PM-7PM at the Zaback-Williams-Ducro Funeral Home, 500 W. Prospect Rd., Ashtabula, where a funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at 12:00PM, with Rev. Larry Baldridge of Kingsville First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow at East Lake Cemetery.
The family suggests memorials in her memory to the Ashtabula APL, 5970 Green Rd., Ashtabula, Ohio, 44004.
