Obituary of Ben B. Bunnell

Ben B. Bunnell, 87, of Ashtabula, passed away on Saturday, December 24, 2022, at Ashtabula County Medical Center. Born April 19, 1935 in Grundy County, MO, he was a son of the late Clifford and Dora (Ballinger) Bunnell and had been an Ashtabula resident since 1967. On November 18, 1956, he married the love of his life, Helen Josephine Warren, and they began a life together that has lasted nearly 66 years as partners and best friends. Ben worked on the railroad for several years before a job opportunity with Union Carbide transferred him to Ashtabula. He founded Ashtabula Insurance Center in 1975 with his wife, Jo and along with their son, Brent, they enjoyed serving the community and their many clients for the rest of their careers. Ben was a member of the former Ashtabula Exchange Club and served on the Children’s Service Board for many years. His dedication to his family, friends, and community will never be forgotten. Ben is survived by one daughter, Susan Meyers of Ashtabula; daughter-in-law, Jennifer Bunnell of Ashtabula; grandchildren, Andrea, Michael, Brady, Jessica, Cameron, and Cassandra; six great-grandchildren, Aiden, Landen, Brenden, Hayden, Cody, and Dylan; several nieces and nephews and his faithful K9 companion, Finn. He was preceded by his wife, Jo Bunnell on November 5, 2022; son, B. Brent Bunnell on February 4, 2021; brother, C.J. Bunnell and his parents. Calling hours will be held from 10AM to 11AM on Thursday, December 29, 2022 at Lighthouse Baptist Church, 2929 Carpenter Rd, Ashtabula, OH 44004, until the time of service at 11AM with Rev. John Jones of Lighthouse Baptist Church officiating. Inurnment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Ashtabula. Contributions can be made to American Cancer Society,10501 Euclid Ave, Cleveland, OH 44106.
