Lottie Gillespie, 91, of Ashtabula, passed away on Sunday, December 25, 2022 at Ashtabula County Nursing Home. A resident of Ashtabula for most of her life, Lottie was born September 3, 1931 in Greenbrier County, WV, a daughter of the late James Henry and Clyde (Sawyers) Huffman. A dedicated homemaker, Lottie’s joy in life was her family. She enjoyed entertaining them when they would come visit. A great cook, Lottie is most famous for her chicken and dumplings, pinto beans and cornbread. A big fan of Elvis, she enjoyed listening to his music and collecting Elvis plates. Left to cherish her memory is her son, Robert (June) Gillespie of Ashtabula; grandchildren, Mark Knapp, Tina Knapp, Thomas Knapp; and great-grandchildren Cody, Zoie, Christian. She was preceded in death by her husband, Reginald Gillespie; sons, Ernie and Dennis Knapp; brother, Pete Huffman; sisters, Evelyn Cole and Emma Gray Loudermilk; nephew, Jim Cole; niece, Martha Cole; and her parents. Funeral service will be held at 2PM on Thursday, December 29, 2022 at Greenlawn Memory Gardens Mausoleum Chapel, N. Kingsville, OH with burial to follow. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society,10501 Euclid Ave, Cleveland, OH 44106.
